Kazakhstan: best workers honoured

Eighty seven of the best employees and teams of JSC ArcelorMittal Temirtau have been awarded with prizes and certificates, based on results of work for the fourth quarter of 2014.

The winners were determined in accordance with the following criteria: work without injury; the absence of violations of industrial and labour discipline and safety observations; no sick leave; compliance with workplace 5S or the WCM system. The title "Best Worker 2014" was awarded to 10 metallurgists, and in addition, 10 employees were awarded with the title "Best Master 2014". Thirteen factory workers were also recognized as "Best Workers on the results of Q4 2014".

Of the 14 teams in the steel shops department, nominated for the title Best team for Q4 2014, five labour groups have been recognized:

  • the team working on the road DPU UAT (7 persons);
  • brigade №1 listootdelki LPC-3 (19 people);
  • a team №2 LNGTS Guild hot-dip galvanized and aluminized (13 people)
  • a site repair team for metallurgical equipment sinter production and blast furnace shop (4 persons);
  • Shihtopodgotovki team №2 site crushing and screening plant Agloproizvodstva (11 persons).

The title of "Best production unit" across all of JSC ArcelorMittal Temirtau was also awarded. The prize – a challenge cup – was presented by CEO to the Chief of department, Victor Lee.

"We will continue the tradition of honouring the best workers, artisans, teams and departments. Every quarter we will make these rewards," said CEO Ivo Khmelik. "The desire of each employee to become the best is commendable. With this approach, we are able to reduce the cost of the finished product, and become competitive in the market. If employees of the company follow the example of those we honour today, I am sure we will find success! Our future is certain!"
