The heart of the machine
It’s not only the familiar exteriors of domestic appliances that are made from steel, much of the insides of these machines depend on it too. Whether it’s structural and heat-resistant components, or electric motors requiring specialist steels, we work very closely with manufacturers in this market, continually developing and innovating our materials in partnership with them to make sure we have the right steel for their needs.
Our partners include leading domestic appliance manufacturers such as: Bosch Siemens, Samsung, Electrolux, Whirlpool, Indesit and Miele.
Specialist solutions
Domestic appliances have a tough life. They’re expected to perform reliably, day after day, yet stay looking as good as new for as long as possible. Specialist materials are essential to meet these demands.

The circular choice
Domestic appliances made with steel combine longevity with recyclability. Each time they reach the end of their life, they can be made into another product, fitting into the ‘circular economy’ model. Our steels for appliances are efficient during their lifetime too, with specially designed steel grades enabling manufacturers to build products which use less energy and water. And our surface treatments, such as Easyfilm®, meet strict environmental directives, further reducing the impact of appliances which use them.
