Aditya Mittal

Aditya Mittal is chief executive officer of ArcelorMittal and a member of the Board of Directors.

Background

In his 28 years with the Company, he has played a critical role in transforming the business into a global industrial giant, with operations spanning Europe, North and South America, Africa and India. In 2006, he ambitiously envisaged bringing together Mittal Steel, together with the European steel company Arcelor, to create a new global leader. He led the subsequent merger which created ArcelorMittal, then the world’s largest steel company.

Aditya is also a board director of Aperam, and Iconiq Capital and is Chairman of the board of ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India. He is also a member of Harvard University’s Global Advisory Council.

Together with his wife Megha, he is an active philanthropist with a particular interest in child health. The couple are significant supporters of the Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital in London, having funded the Mittal Children’s Medical Centre. In India, they have worked closely with UNICEF, funding the first ever country-wide survey into child nutrition, the results of which are being used by the Government of India to inform relevant policy. Aditya is the Vice Governor and Managing Partner of the Boston Celtics and serves as a member of the Executive Committee for the Boston Children’s Hospital.

Aditya holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics with concentrations in Strategic Management and Corporate Finance from the Wharton School in Pennsylvania, United States.

Aditya is the son of Mr. Lakshmi N. Mittal and brother of Ms. Vanisha Mittal Bhatia. He is a citizen of India and lives in London, with his family.
