Global Research and Development (R&D) is the heartbeat of innovation at ArcelorMittal.

Our dedicated team works both independently and collaboratively with other business areas, exploring the latest technological advances to improve the steels we create, the processes we use and the impacts we make.

Each year, we invest close to $300m in Global R&D, launch around 50 new products and solutions, and protect more than 100 new inventions – powering progress for our company, our customers and our industry.

Our 14 research centres and four R&D units are strategically placed in Europe, North, South America and Asia, close to customer sites and embedded in key operations. We coordinate globally and collaborate locally – a big advantage in this competitive market.

  • We are pioneering AI to slash product development timelines from up to five years to less than one, and analyse patents 10-times faster as we extend our advantage through intellectual property.
