Jorge Luiz Ribeiro de Oliveira

Following Jefferson de Paula’s retirement, Jorge Luiz Ribeiro De Oliveira, Vice President of ArcelorMittal and chief executive officer of Flat South America, is nominated Executive Vice President of ArcelorMittal and is appointed as president of ArcelorMittal Brasil, effective 1 April 2025. In addition to his current responsibilities, he will now oversee the shared services organization of ArcelorMittal in Brazil. Jorge reports to Aditya Mittal, Chief Executive Officer of ArcelorMittal.

Background

Jorge began his career at ArcelorMittal Tubarão 34 years ago, as a development trainee engineering. In January 1989, he became section manager of the blast furnaces. In April 2001 he enlarged his responsibilities becoming production planning & scheduling manager and in December 2002 he came back to ironmaking to become manager of the blast furnaces and sinter areas. In June 2008, he was nominated General Manager, responsible for iron making and the energy department.

He held this position until 2010, before taking responsibility as General Manager for the steel making and the hot strip mill department. In 2011 he temporarily left the company and he re-joined the group in July 2014, as chief operations officer of Flat Carbon South America. From 2009 to 2021, Jorge was president and chief executive officer of AM/NS Calvert in September 2019. He has been in his current role since October 2021.

Jorge is a graduate in metallurgical engineering from the Universidade Federal Fluminense, Brazil and he participated in executive programs at Kellogg School of Management in USA and PGA in France.
