Recognition for Innovation: How ArcelorMittal Is Helping Shape the Future of Sustainable Mobility

At ArcelorMittal, recognition matters not because of the award itself, but because of what it represents. Collaboration, innovation and a shared commitment to solving some of the automotive industry’s biggest challenges.

In June this year, ArcelorMittal were recognised by JLR in the highly competitive “Visionary” category at its 2026 Global Supplier Conference. This recognition showcases suppliers whose ideas, technologies and expertise are helping shape the future of mobility and supporting JLR’s long-term ambition.

JLR spoke about the growing role that low-emission steel can play in the future of automotive manufacturing. This partnership demonstrates the value of bringing together material innovation, engineering know-how and long-term collaboration to accelerate progress. They specifically highlighted ArcelorMittal’s contribution to material optimisation, innovative steel solutions, engineering partnership and support for its net-zero goals including improved circularity, reduced emissions and optimised vehicle design

The partnership between ArcelorMittal and JLR demonstrates the power of creativity, trust, and early collaboration in driving innovation! This close collaboration enables the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective, and sustainable steel innovations that meet JLR’s demanding requirements while accelerating the development of next-generation vehicles.

Head of ArcelorMittal Global Automotive

As vehicle manufacturers seek to reduce carbon emissions across their value chains, the focus is increasingly shifting beyond vehicle electrification towards the materials used to build the vehicles themselves. Steel remains the backbone of modern automotive design, making decarbonisation of steel production a critical part of the industry’s transition.

This is where ArcelorMittal’s XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steels are making a difference. Today, XCarb® is increasingly being integrated into real-world industrial applications, demonstrating that sustainability, performance and scalability can go hand in hand. Through partnerships with leading vehicle manufacturers and suppliers, ArcelorMittal is helping to prove that lower-emission steel solutions are not simply concepts for the future, but technologies that can be deployed today.

As Olivier Hudin, Automotive Technical and Service Director for ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products, noted when accepting JLR’s recognition:

This recognition from JLR is a strong endorsement of our teams’ ability to combine engineering expertise, material innovation and close customer collaboration. It reflects how we contribute not only to immediate performance and cost efficiency, but also to shaping the future of sustainable mobility together with our partners.

Olivier Hudin

Automotive Technical and Service Director for ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products

The recognition is also a testament to the expertise and dedication of teams across ArcelorMittal. From research and development to technical services, customer support and manufacturing, thousands of colleagues are helping customers navigate the transition towards more sustainable forms of mobility.

As the automotive industry continues to evolve, partnerships will be essential. No single company can drive transformation alone. Progress depends on collaboration across the value chain, shared innovation and a willingness to rethink how materials are designed, produced and used.

Recognition such as JLR’s “Visionary” award serves as an important reminder that ArcelorMittal is not only responding to this transformation; we are helping to shape it.
