Delivering raw-material excellence in a demanding automotive landscape

In an era when automotive manufacturers are under intense pressure to decarbonise, reduce costs and safeguard supply chains, supplier performance has become a strategic differentiator.

Against this backdrop, ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products has been recognised by Stellantis with a Best Supplier Award in the Raw Materials category, emphasising the critical role steel innovation continues to play in modern vehicle production.

The award was presented at Stellantis’ annual supplier awards ceremony in France on Tuesday, 28 October 2025, and reflects performance delivered throughout 2024, a year characterised by volatile demand, growing sustainability expectations and ongoing disruption across global industrial supply chains.

Operational excellence at scale

ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products highlights more than simple delivery metrics. It recognises the ability of the steelmaker’s automotive teams to consistently meet exacting standards for quality, logistics, and responsiveness across a highly complex, multi-brand automotive group.

ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products supplies automotive-grade steel to Stellantis from a network of integrated steel manufacturing sites across Europe, including ArcelorMittal Distribution Solutions and ArcelorMittal Tailored Blanks facilities enabling close technical and operational alignment with Stellantis’ vehicle production plants.

Engineering collaboration beyond supply

ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products and Stellantis have been working together on a range of joint projects focused on lightweighting, sustainability and cost efficiency, areas that are now central to vehicle design and profitability.

Advanced high-strength steels and tailored blank solutions have enabled Stellantis engineers to reduce vehicle mass without compromising safety or structural integrity, supporting lower CO₂ emissions and improved efficiency across internal combustion, hybrid and electric platforms. At the same time, material optimisation and process efficiency have helped manage costs at a time when affordability remains a key concern for global car buyers.

These solutions are deployed across Stellantis’ portfolio of 14 iconic brands, spanning mainstream, premium and performance segments, each with distinct design and engineering requirements.

Recognition driven by values and performance

According to Stellantis, nominees and winners for its supplier awards are selected by a global, cross-functional team that evaluates criteria including operational performance, innovation, alignment with Stellantis’ core values, and commitment to shared objectives.

In recognising its steel supplier, Stellantis has acknowledged the strategic importance of raw materials partners that can innovate at pace, deliver at scale, and align with long-term sustainability goals.

Looking ahead

As the automotive industry accelerates toward electrification and lower lifecycle emissions, the role of steel is evolving rather than diminishing. For ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products and Stellantis, the Best Supplier Award serves not only as recognition of past performance, but as a marker of a partnership positioned to address the next generation of automotive challenges through smarter steels, closer collaboration, and relentless operational discipline.
